Retirees should carefully consider the transport options available to them before moving to retirement villages.

Many railway stations are only accessible by long staircases and stairways.

Older people, at some stage, will not be able to drive any more and therefore will rely on buses and trains.

 
Tips & Suggestions

Make sure that the retirement village has a courtesy bus service to take you shopping or on social trips.

Are there facilities such as swimming pool, library, arts and craft area, leisure centres?

Is the village close to a major shopping centre?

Are the apartments wired for internet access?

Is there an emergency call service?
