Petanque @ AMA

In 2002 after being approached by some petanque players to start the game on a social basis , the AMA decided to introduce petanque as a sporting activity. As a number of our members were interested in the sport it seemed only natural for the association to follow this path.

Our Petanque activities took off rather quickly and very soon we had quite a few committed & energetic players.

The AMA is officially registered with the NSW Petanque League and is officially represented on the Board by Neil Kelly. The AMA is also affiliated to Petanque Federation Australia and it is important to note that the current President and Secretary of PFA are AMA members, viz Sylvio Jolicoeur and Marcel Philogene.

We have at the moment 26 registered players who take part on a regular basis in competitions organised by the State League or rival clubs. Our players have been chosen in State teams regularly for interstate or overseas competitions.

Petanque is a growing sport in NSW and there are at the moment 11 registered clubs and competitions are organised on a regular basis. Club activities are reserved for the first and third Sunday in the month and League tournaments normally take place on the second and fourth Sunday.
